With a poetic, prophetic voice, she created the popular Liturgies for Parents Instagram account, which Christianity Today named an “essential parenting resource.”
Kayla’s nuanced and accessible reflections, essays, and prayers are featured in various books, devotionals, and Bible studies. Kayla lives in a 115-year-old former convent in her Iowa hometown, where she hopes to create spaces of welcome alongside her four children, two dogs, and husband, Jonny.

Kayla is a writer, podcaster, and mother of four wild children. She considers herself a contemplative extrovert and would love to have deep conversations and deep belly laughs with you.
As a modern liturgist, Kayla brings her heart of a poet and passion of a prophet to her writing.
In her new book Every Season Sacred, Kayla invites parents to consider gentle contemplative rhythms as they engage in connecting with God, themselves, their families, and their communties.
As a mother to four wild, wonderful, and complex children, Kayla very much understands the joys and heartaches that come with raising compassionate, connected kids in a complicated world.
